Indian Street Food & Co. – some of the best Indian Food in Stockholm

So there we were, braving the bitter sub-zero January temperatures of Stockholm in search of some hearty, warming food for the soul – only to find that the lunch place we were heading for was closed!

But all was not lost… as we retraced our steps it wasn’t long before we were being lured by fresh aromas of spice and Indian Street Food. Don’t you love it when you stumble upon something great totally by accident! And on a cold January day, the promise of fresh Indian Street Food seemed like an opportunity not to be missed…

For us, coming to Sweden from the UK (where Tikka Masala has been heralded as a national dish) finding good Indian food has always been a quest for us since living in Stockholm.

While the restaurant Indian Street Food & Co. only opened in March 2016 – the name may sound familiar as their delicious street food really has lived up to its name – being served up from their food truck out on the streets of Stockholm since 2014.

Lunch at Indian Street Food & Co.‘s restaurant did not disappoint – we ordered one of their roadside curries – consisting of the day’s dal, chicken curry, lamb curry, salad, rice and raita dip.  We added a naan in for good measure and it was definitely a good call! We also ordered one of their Street Kathi Rolls – freshly baked Indian bread rolls with fillings, spices and sauces from both traditional and modern North Indian cuisine – we chose the vegetarian option of a samosa filling.

The menu comprises of simple, unfussy street food that really delivers when it comes to taste. And gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan customers – don’t worry – the restaurant will cater for all your dietary needs! They offer a great lunch deal and if you are looking for a great value dinner out in Stockholm – their dinner prices are really reasonable too.  Indian Street Food and Co. – we’ll be back for sure!
