Eat at one of Stockholm’s best restaurants for just 86 SEK
Yes…you heard us correctly!
We just have to tell you about this place…hidden in a little corner on Tegnérlunden – this place could easily be overlooked without insider knowledge!
As with many Swedes that I have come to know, we (my husband and I) tend to eat out for lunch rather than dinner in Stockholm as it is much better for those purse strings (!) so we thought we’d give this place a try for a midweek lunch on a budget.
Their dagens (daily) lunch menu varies but expect a choice of different pizzas and pastas, with a risotto and salad option as well (a sample menu is shown on the photo below). And yes…all this for just 86 SEK! Unlike some lunch deals in Stockholm, it doesn’t include coffee, and drinks (apart from water) are an additional cost – but I don’t think this needs to be a deal breaker!
Most importantly – how was the food?
I am a fan of Swedish pizza (although a thin crust isn’t for everybody) so my husband and I both opted for two of the different pizza options – my vegetarian pizza was loaded with many fresh flavours of rocket, ricotta cheese and fresh cherry tomatoes – just the perfect amount of topping. There was just the right amount of mozzarella cheese topping underneath the rocket and tomatoes, allowing all the flavours to work together – it also meant that it wasn’t too heavy or salty as some pizzas can be. Having said this, I still couldn’t finish it all and had to have the last quarter boxed up to take away (I didn’t want such a tasty dish to go to waste – so, with a homemade side salad, that was the following day’s lunch sorted. It’s always good to be thrifty!)
My husband, who is dairy intolerant, opted for a cheese-free pizza over the dairy- free pasta option and he commented that it may have been the best he has ever tasted in Stockholm – and he was born in Stockholm so he’s had his fair share of pizzas during his life here!
(Dairy/ Lactose free tip: Adding chili oil to a cheese free pizza is a great option for any lactose of dairy intolerant friends out there!)
