Siv & Åke – A Vintage Store Worth Visiting!

We were excited to learn about this new second-hand vintage store that opened on Södermalm last year. Siv & Åke was founded by the brother-sister team of Anni & Joel Jönsson. But more than just a family business, Anni spoke to us about how this vintage store fulfills a lifelong dream she’s had since she was 12.  There’s something about a place that is crafted with passion and love that just makes you feel at home – even the name of the store reflects this with ‘Siv & Åke’ being a tribute to their grandparents who inspired this venture of theirs. We love that!

From speaking to Anni, it is clear that she is passionate about sourcing good quality (yes to that!) vintage items from all over Europe (mainly) and beyond – just last week when we visited, she was busy sorting through a shipment of treasures – clothes, accessories and shoes that had arrived from Italy.  Many of the pieces that can be found in this second-hand vintage store are unique due to the fact that many are sourced in person from across Europe and sometimes even further afield, totally reinforcing the values of care and attention to detail that the store was founded upon.

And we were genuinely impressed with the quality of the second-hand items that Siv & Åke had to offer – from timeless unique pieces, vintage Levi’s jeans, to clothes that will have you reminiscing of decades past (not that I was around for the 60s, 70s or much of the 80s!).  Jewellery, sunglasses, purses, and chunky knits are just some of the items that line the rails, walls and surfaces. Everywhere you look there are new gems to be uncovered and rediscovered.

But the best part? The price. We haven’t blogged about many vintage shops around Stockholm as many of them often carry a pretty hefty price tag but we were pleasantly surprised by Siv & Åke which offers reasonably priced, high-quality goods. As with all second-hand stores, you need to root around to fund the bargain you are looking for but if you are a fan of vintage clothing or love the thrill of thrift-shopping, you really must check them out.

You can find Siv & Åke on Facebook, Instagram, or on their website or better yet, you could even take a trip down to see them in person!

Stockholm is a great place to be – whether you are living here or just visiting. Across the city you can always find independent stores, cafes, restaurants and other ventures where people have taken a leap of faith and to pursue their passion. We salute you Siv & Åke for stepping out and doing just that and we’ll be back soon to stock up on some winter fashion must-haves ahem.. I mean, essentials!
