Apparently the largest flea market in Scandinavia (Loppmarknaden)

While Loppmarknaden claims to be the largest flea market in Scandinavia, we weren’t impressed. They have a lot of stalls but instead of being filled with quality second goods, there were a lot of cheap house-clearance-type stalls. We were also expecting it to be a lot bigger than it was.

If you are prepared to pay the weekend entry fee, are ready to face aggressive sellers (some, not all) and are ready to haggle, you might get a bargain.

We won’t be going back though!

And if you're planning on visiting Stockholm any time soon, Booking.com has some great deals on hotels in and around the city. Highly recommended!

We are from the US and just went to Taby Gallop Flea market yesterday. It was amazing. The prices were great and we got quality goods. I was school clothes shpping for my 7 and 16 year old girls, I spent just under $25 for 2 beautiful scarves for me and about 8 pieces of clothing each for the girls plus boots and shoes and jewlery. I would have spent far more in Kansas City at a second hand store. Many items we bought from vendors were anly about $1. Our Swedish friends (who waited us out in the coffee shop) thought I was crazy to want to go buy someones “junk” then they saw my loot when we got home and were amazed. Some itms still had price tags on them. I highly recommend this flea market.

    • Thanks for sharing this Rayne! Yes – we need to make our way there soon to check it out. Glad that you are finding these bargains on your trip to Sweden and can experience this great city ‘on a shoestring’ :D
